Whether you attended Dreamforce in person, virtually or completely missed it, there is one key takeaway that stands out. With Salesforce’s acquisition of Slack, companies can run a digital headquarters better than ever before.

Sure there were hundreds of valuable sessions, but, the Slack acquisition theme was definitely the biggest thing to come out of the 3-day event. Did you miss it? This post is here to fill you in on everything you need to know.

There is One Announcement That Stands Out

It’s not new that Salesforce acquired Slack. However, at Dreamforce 2021, there were a lot of announcements and information presented that showcased just how exciting this acquisition is and what it means for the way businesses operate.

Our CEO, Tracey Zimmerman shared her excitement about the announcement and what it means for the future of business. “By integrating Slack and Salesforce throughout their operations, organizations can realize an incredible opportunity to be more personalized, engaging, and create impactful experiences that change how businesses operate. I’m so excited to be guiding companies in unlocking greater potential through these platforms.”

What Dreamforce Tells Us About Digital Headquarters

Salesforce acquired Slack so that businesses can communicate internally and externally better than ever before. The flexibility of a digital headquarters means that employees can work anywhere and anytime while remaining effective and productive.

Bret Taylor, COO of Salesforce summed it up best when he said “Every company needs a digital HQ to connect its employees, customers, and partners, and thrive in a work-from-anywhere world. Organizations around the world build their digital HQs on Salesforce and Slack so they can work better and grow faster.”

The pandemic was rough but it also allowed businesses to re-imagine how they operate and communicate. In fact, 90% of companies plan to offer a work-from-home and/or the office even after the pandemic is over. This shift has transformed businesses. Particularly when it comes to communicating. The supercharged Slack functionality means that employees can work from anywhere at any time and be just as productive as they were when they were in the office full time.

Some Good News for Developers

As part of Salesforce’s acquisition of Slack, they have released a toolset for developers called Foyer. Foyer allows developers to use the Salesforce knowledge they already have and offers a streamlined way to create Slack apps.

The best part of this new development? No coding required!

“Our goal with Foyer is to accelerate development and empower Salesforce developers to use the skills they already have to create Slack apps that seamlessly connect to Salesforce. Foyer supports this by providing both an SDK for UI development and a powerful service proxy that dynamically generates the endpoints needed to power your Slack app,” stated Tiann Kruger, Director of Product Management.
